Challenge:
The Tire Rack is an Indiana-based tire and wheel distributor. An active DPS customer, they were already using the DPS Extend™ Distribution System. They also had an existing website, www.tirerack.com, where static information was displayed about the company and their products. The Tire Rack wanted to transform their website into an e-commerce, online, real-time experience. Their goal was to expand their e-market to unlimited business hours and beyond the core enthusiast customer. They wanted to accomplish these critical steps quickly, without duplication, and with complete integration to their application system.
Solution:
The Tire Rack contracted with DPS to provide dynamic interaction between the iSeries-based Order Processing Module and the website served by their local ISP. The seamless integration is provided by a dedicated frame relay line, which is an excellent price performer. DPS programmed an interface that allows for a B2C item availability check from the "nearest to consumer" location, verifies pricing, and determines the exact freight calculations.
