What is PM eServer iSeries?

Performance Management eServer iSeries is a dynamic part of OS/400 and IBM eServer i5/OS ®. PM eServer iSeries automates many of the functions associated with capacity planning and performance analysis-automatically. It is an autonomic "self awareness" function of the iSeries or AS/400 that helps keep you aware of any impending performance or capacity system issues.  As a systems management tool, PM eServer iSeries can help you ensure that you get the most from your system by measuring workload growth and system performance. These measurements allow you to more easily plan for future system growth and identify potential resource constraints. Measuring your system's performance helps you make decisions that affect your budget and information resource plans.

The tool is automated and self-managing, which allows for easy use. PM eServer iSeries gathers nonproprietary performance data from your AS/400 or iSeries and sends it to IBM on a weekly basis. In return, you have access (via the Internet) to a series of reports showing your system's growth and performance characteristics. (Note: PM eServer iSeries requires your AS/400 or iSeries to be on IBM hardware maintenance or warranty. A modem is required to transmit.)
