DPS/Real-World Solutions
International Development Ltd.: e-Reports Improve Productivity, Reduce Expenses
Challenge:
IDL consists of 20 corporations that maintain approximately 120 Burger King restaurants. Communicating with the affiliates meant frequent manual distribution of various reports. This process involved printing, copying, collating, packaging, labeling, and mailing reports. Many times the information was outdated by the time it reached its final destination. The manual process was costly, slow, and human resource intensive. IDL needed to find a way to automate this process and make the information accessible to all of their affiliates.
Solution:
IDL contracted with DPS to conduct an eight-hour e-business analysis. DPS concluded that IDL could receive an immediate return on investment by automating this process with a custom developed e-collaboration application. The DPS solution is written in Java and enables a bi-directional flow of information between headquarters, partners, and stores. In effect, the application allows IDL to transmit all of their reports electronically via an extranet. Primarily, the e-collaboration application is designed to grow beyond the scope of its initial definition. The infrastructure is already in place to expand.
