Session Update on Customer-Centric Marketing: The Case for Profiling Customers. Dr. Kathy Newton, Head of the Industrial Distribution Department, Purdue University. In designing selling systems for today’s companies, it is not enough to focus simply on a standardized operating model based on what our customers want. To provide real value for customers, we must provide unique solutions that make our organizations indispensable to them. In this well-received session Dr. Newton described a five-step model that can create the selling system that best serves the ideal customer and garners the benefits of increased loyalty and customer retention. For more information on this topic, please read Dr. Newton's article providing the foundation for the conference presentation.
Before starting the conference, we were able to enjoy a team-building exercise at the Indianapolis Zoo, named one of the 10 best zoos in the United States. Each of the 10 teams had an opportunity to take photos to share with the rest of the group. Chris Johnson, by weekday an member of the DPS Java Development Team, served as our official event photographer both at the zoo and during the conference. He deserves special thanks for capturing the spirit of "Connected Customers".
